Shop Policies
How deposits, scheduling, quotes and ownership work for every SilvaDes job — parts, printing, CAD, photo, drone and web work. Effective October 8, 2026, for quotes issued or accepted from that date. Earlier quotes not yet accepted are re-issued under these policies; jobs already under way keep their original terms. If your written quote and these policies differ, the quote controls.
01 — Deposits & Payment
Paid up front, then built
Jobs of $200 or more
50% deposit before work starts. The balance is due at pickup or delivery.
Jobs under $200
Prints, parts and small jobs are paid in full when the order is placed.
Deposit refunds
Deposits are non-refundable once materials are bought or design work has started. If SilvaDes cancels a job, your deposit is refunded in full.
Final delivery
Photos, video, CAD files and finished parts are released once the job is paid in full.
Invoices
Due within 7 days. A one-time $15 late fee applies to invoices unpaid 14 days after the due date, when the fee is listed on your quote or invoice.
02 — Quotes & Changes
Clear scope, no surprises
Quote validity
Quotes are good for 14 days. If material prices change after that, the job is re-quoted.
Changes
Any change after a quote is approved is priced in writing before work continues.
Revisions
Design and web work include 2 rounds of revisions. More rounds are billed at the hourly rate.
Consultation
Design consultations are $25, credited in full toward the job if you book it.
03 — Hourly Work
Minimums and billing
Minimum
CAD, shop labor and media time have a 1-hour minimum, then bill in 15-minute steps.
Print orders
Custom 3D print orders have a $20 minimum.
04 — Rush & Travel
Faster or farther costs a little more
Rush
+25% for turnaround under 48 hours. +50% for next-day or weekend work.
Travel
The first 15 miles from Washington, IL are free. Past that, $1 per mile, each way.
05 — Appointments
By appointment only
Rescheduling
Free with at least 24 hours' notice.
Late cancel or no-show
A $35 fee applies. For sessions paid in full at checkout, SilvaDes keeps $35 and refunds the rest. For quoted photo, video and drone shoots, the deposit is kept instead. If no workable date can be found, you get a full refund.
Weather
Drone and outdoor shoots cancelled for weather are rescheduled free.
06 — Files, Photos & Ownership
What you get to keep
CAD files
You get the finished part. SilvaDes keeps the CAD files; a file buyout is available for 50% of the design fee.
Photo & video
Personal and social media use is included. SilvaDes keeps copyright and may show the work in its portfolio. Commercial or advertising use adds 50%.
Parts & designs
SilvaDes may photograph and show parts it designs or makes in its portfolio. Tell us in writing before work starts if you want a job kept private.
07 — Parts & Pickup
Warranty, your parts, and storage
Warranty
Physical products carry the 90-day limited warranty on the Warranty page.
Customer-supplied parts
Installing parts you bring covers the labor only. Those parts are not under warranty.
Unclaimed items
Storage of $5 per day starts 14 days after a written ready notice by text or email. Items still unclaimed after 90 days are handled as Illinois law allows, after further written notice.
