Transitioning to the Next Level: Why I’ve Decided to Form an LLC

As my projects in engineering, design, and media have evolved from hobbies into professional ventures—like the 3D-printed air intake I’ve been designing—it became clear that I needed a formal structure to match that growth. Transitioning to a Limited Liability Company (LLC) is the logical next step for me. Beyond just "looking the part," an LLC provides a crucial layer of separation between my personal assets and my business activities, ensuring that my professional risks stay exactly where they belong: in the business.

To solidify this foundation, I’m also securing an Employer Identification Number (EIN). While it’s essentially a "Social Security Number for a business," it’s the key to opening a dedicated business bank account and properly managing my finances as I move toward licensing deals and scaling my 3D printing services. This move isn't just about paperwork; it's about building a sustainable framework for my creative and technical work here in Illinois, allowing me to focus on innovation while staying protected and organized.
